May, Giordano join Baltimore magazine

Shelly MayShelly May and Lauren Giordano have joined Baltimore magazine as marketing and events coordinator and assistant art director, respectively.

May served as a marketing and special events intern with the magazine in 2009. In her new role, she will once again work closely with the director of marketing, Jessie Peterson, to develop effective marketing strategies for events; implement logistics of events; and assist in writing and editing promotional materials as well as other marketing-related activities.

Prior to Baltimore magazine, May was an account executive for Profiles Inc. During her time at Profiles, she developed and implemented public relations campaigns; managed social media and grassroots marketing efforts; developed partnerships and coordinated special events for clients including the Y of Central Maryland, Kennedy Krieger Institute, The American Craft Council Show in Baltimore, Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. She also served as marketing director and assistant manager at South Moon Under in Towson from 2009 to 2010.

May is a 2009 graduate of Stevenson University with a bachelor’s degree in business communication.

Lauren GiordanoGiordano brings 10 years of graphic design experience to Baltimore magazine as assistant art director and will be working closely with art director Amanda White-Iseli on the design of the monthly magazine. Her responsibilities will include assigning and attending photo shoots as well as designing features and portions of the front of the book sections.

Giordano comes to the magazine from Baltimore Sun Media Group where she was a graphic designer in the magazine and custom content divisions and was responsible for conceiving feature and department layouts, creating illustrations and infographics; producing custom collateral for clients; and preparing and distributing magazine content to the magazines’ websites and social media outlets. She has previously worked as a graphic designer for The George Washington University, Prince George’s Community College, Tom Dolle Design, and Pedone and Partners Advertising.

Giordano graduated in 2002 from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, with a bachelor’s degree in commutations design.
